Junior Development League (JDL) Overview The Junior Development League (JDL) is a critical component of Football West’s commitment to nurturing young talent across Western Australia. Designed to provide structured, competitive, and development-focused opportunities for junior players, the JDL supports clubs in delivering high-quality football experiences aligned with national standards. Who Should Complete the JDL Nomination Form? This form is intended for clubs seeking to nominate teams for the 2026 Junior Development League. It is essential that one senior club officer (e.g., Secretary, President, Registrar) completes the form on behalf of the club. Clubs must ensure they meet the relevant coaching and team eligibility criteria before submitting. Coaching Requirements To maintain the integrity and developmental focus of the JDL, Football West has outlined minimum coaching qualifications for participating teams: JDL Boys Teams: JDL 1 and 2: Coach must hold a minimum C Licence accreditation. JDL 3 and 4: Coach must have completed the Football Australia Foundations of Football course. JDL Girls Teams: Each team must be led by a coach who has completed the Football Australia Foundations of Football course. These qualifications ensure that coaches are equipped to deliver age-appropriate training and foster a positive learning environment for junior players.
